~Doormanian Plots~

J+M+J

It strikes me that, as a blogging writer, my blog seems to be missing something most others have: namely, a compilation of all my stories.
So here it is, at long last! (So I suppose it won't be missing after all!)
This is a place to find all my stories: old and new; long and short; in-head-only and finished... you name it, I put them all here in one place.
Your welcome, and enjoy!

Full Stories ~ Ideas and Works

The Ocean of Crosslan
 Description:
Set in the world of Cyiro, along with quite a few of my other works, this is debatebly the first book in the series (and I say debatebly because you could technically consider the third book on this list a series member, and in which case this book would fall after said book). It follows the adventures of Etten, the main character, through thick and thin, as he fights desperately to save his family, save his comrades, and ultimately, save his country. I've already gone through quite a lot of details for this book, and the subsequent one, in this post, so I won't go into too much detail.

A Gift to Chari Mari
 Description:
As a sequel to The Ocean of Crosslan, there's really not much more to say about this book. It picks up where the last one left off, and follows Etten once again, though this time in his quest to find his sister, while at the same time trying desperately to ward away the wall of thunder that threatens to strike down both his friends and his nation all in one moment. Again, the details of this and the previous book can be found here.

Up to chapter three written, waiting on second draft of The Ocean of Crosslan to finish before continuing. Middle semi-planned; ending planned very heavily.

(Yet to be titled)
 Description:
Here is the third book which is set in the world of Cyiro, though it has very little to do with the other two. So could you call it part of the series...? Eh... maybe? I'm thinking you could, but it is not in the same sense that the other two books are related. This book follows the story of a Dirkian citizen in the economical and governmental fall of Dirkia, or rather, when Dirkia fell into the hands of a villainous ruler. It follows the death-listing, escape, and subsequent journey of the main character (which, for reference to anyone who has read The Ocean of Crosslan, is Timmy's grandfather) into the unexplored eastern hemisphere... in which a whole 'nother set of problems is discovered. Beyond that, there isn't much more to say.

In ideas only, the beginning only is vaguely planned. I have very foggy ideas of the general plot later on.

The Last Letter
 Description:
This is, whether I like it or not, probably one of best writings to the date (at least book-wise). It follows the story of Philip Colner, who is mysteriously, and quite out of the blue, asked to train in secret to be the Captain of a record-breaking Space-vessel, the Sancta Maria 103. His mission is to deliver supplies to America's resource deprived Mars colonies. Fate however, has decided otherwise. For not a moment after the journey begins, tragedy strikes, and between preventing a passenger mutiny, piloting a faulty ship, and fighting to uphold his command as Captain, Philip is confronted with the decision to follow a crazy unreasonable command, which will ultimately end in disaster, or doing what he knows is their only chance, which will end in shame and imprisonment. It's setting consists of a slightly futuristic America, space, and... *spoilers*... an alien destination....

Beginning written up to the seventh chapter, ending planned, and mid-section still a bit foggy. Will probably remain on hold for a while till I can complete a couple other novels first. (such as the Crosslan series, which currently takes first priority)

The Evil Alliance of the Penta-pus
 Description:
This is, by all means, the most not-serious story of my collection. (At least in terms of novels) For just about every single story I mentioned before, or even after, has a sad/dramatic ending, the exception being The Ocean of Crosslan and quite possibly the other untitled one I mentioned set in Cyiro. Goodness.... Why is it that my stories are always so dark?? At any rate, this one isn't. This book tells the rather corny, but fun story of a five-legged octopus who is an unlikely mastermind. He escapes from the zoo (which he was imprisoned in for with a life sentence) with the help of a few select personnel, and threatens the world by joining alliances with the four most dangerous crooks in all of history. Things get a bit haywire however, when the co-villains discover their boss's evil plans for world dominion... without them....
This book is by all means a fun book, if you haven't noticed, and it acts as a stress reliever when I need a break from the dark bleak plot-lines of all the other stories.
It's dark, but in such a corny way you can't take seriously, and so it leaves room for quite some creative, and bizarre ideas.... (Which I definitely need an outlet for)
More information on that here, if you're curious.

Beginning and pieces of plot planned, though still quite up in the air. Writing started but progressing very slowly due to other life happenings. Will probably take a year or so before I get serious on pounding out this one, if ever I do.

An American Princess
 Description:
This alone remains the only historical fiction... so far... which means it will require a fair amount of researching, which I haven't gotten too yet and won't for a while. The plot-line consists of a French explorer who is commissioned to explore the America's in the age of discovery. After crossing the unknown, in the company of a rather interesting and at first detestable (at least in the main character's mind) character, he sets foot on the new world.
His quest is voided, however, when he is captured, and soon after, rescued by Indians. It is then that the romantic part of the story commences, for he falls for a beautiful Indian princess, and so decides to chuck his quest and forget about it. Unfortunately, the story goes further then that... for one cannot simply chuck a responsibility and expect not to have trouble later on....
Can you see why I need to do so much research now?
In addition to research on Indians, I also have to find out any details of the story that inspired this. For this idea was actually taken from a family legend, the story being that my mother's side of the family is related to a Blackfoot Indian Princess, who married a French explorer, and it is my intent to find out any details of the story before setting out to write on it. That would also make this story unique in my collection, for it's currently the only novel based on real happenings.

In ideas only, a few scenes vaguely planned here and there. This one is on one of the more back-er of back-burning burners... if that makes sense.

Summer's Sacrifice
 Description:
This story holds a multitude of new excitements for me, for the longest play-script I've written was just five pages, and a full-blow play will require so much more.... But at any rate, this play tells the story of a prideful-good-for-nothing of a man (Poblo Eamon), who, for the wrong reasons, wishes to gain the hand of a good and respectable lady by the name of Adabella Querida (Previously Rebecca, I changed her name to actually mean something in Spanish: Lovely Beloved, and also because it didn't fit at all in with the rest of the names).
Poblo's attitude changes, however,  when she teaches him a thing or two, and he realizes just the kind of person he is. His love of himself is lost, and he discovers so much more... and in his discovery, he begins to truly see how to love another....
But he is tested, and soon enough the tragedy falls, for he was not the only one to try Ada's hand for the wrong reasons... and for one trying it for the right reasons, his competitors have no respect.
Needless to say, it doesn't end... the happiest....
(But, you never know... that might depend on how you look at it.... *mischievous grin*)

Romantic Tragedy, Operatic-Musical (No spoken lines)

Status:
Still a long ways to go, but I have more and more ideas coming in for it, including scenes, songs (or arias... not sure what to call them in an all-sung musical), and plots.

(Yet to be titled)
 Description:
What's with me and tragic stories?? I really don't know, but regardless, this was actually my first "script" idea, even before Summer's Sacrifice. That being said, it has way to many commonalities with said script, which makes me a bit uncomfortable. I do think this idea needs quite a bit more development or it'll be the same story over again. It follows the tragic happenings of el señor y la señorita in Spain in the time of...? I really don't know yet, sorry....
(All characters are nameless as of yet)
The couple is to be a happy couple soon, when el señor discovers a web of plots against his family, as well as a deathreat to his head, him being the only heir to his father. The enemy family, happens to be none other then the family of la señorita, though she is completely innocent of the fact. La señorita's father also happens to be unaware that his daughter loves the very man he is out to kill. Upon her expressing her desire to marry, he makes agreement under one condition: she is to help him rid the world of this man which he has vowed to kill. With no other option left... she agrees... and so begins the tragedy and tension of this drama.... The veils of discovery are slowly being drawn back from the eyes of the lovers... and they are soon to find out the trap that has been laid....
*Ehem*... Yes yes, no cliffhanger there... I may have gotten a bit dramatic and cliff-hangery at the end, my apologies, but it was bound to happen with that plot.
Unfortunately, this one will be leaving you hanged for a while. Simply because it's in Spain, indicating it's Spanish, meaning I've got to know Spanish before I write it.
So, needless to say, it'll be a while... but I hope I'll get to it some day!
Hmm... you don't think I gave away too much in that description, do y'all?

In vague ideas only. Most likely to remain so for a minimum of two or three years. Of all my stories, this is probably the one to be pushed to the back, as it will require quite a bit of dedication. This one is, with the advances the other one has made in its direction, currently on the cutting board.

Isa of Icelania
 Description:
This is another new idea of recent addition. It is a little like The Evil Alliance of the Penta-pus in not being so serious, though my writing movtives differ. This is a book/series/collection that I wish to write for the benifit of my little sister, and so it is oriented to her age and likings.
Princess Isabella (her full name is "Isa Bella" though her nickname is "Therease"... by decleration of my little sister) is a Penguin in the cold icy reagions of Icelania.  This book would either be a simple plot (not too tragic, though that'll be hard with me), or a collection of shorter stories regarding her, the royal family, and their affairs.
I really don't have any sort of plot with it yet, hence it being so up in the air... it's still shiny new though so I will doubtless have more down for it at some future point.

'Twixt  War and Ice
 Description:
It twas in time below the dawn when light so fair came betwixt my mind and knowing that I yearned for possession of such among my novels... and hence as the fingered rays of the dawn fell upon my upturned searching lanterns I resolved thus to take up pen and ink to write one....
~
This tragedy follows the story of an American soldier (submarine-er rather) during World War 2 as he is called away from his homeland never to return... (of course, else it wouldn't be a tragedy). It follows his trials and hardships aboard his ship as well as his correspondences with his beloved (which is where the actual poem parts come in, as his letters are in poem form).
I have took the pains of researching an actual vessel that was lost to sea, it's ship type, crew, ect., to make this story as feasible as possible.
Beyond that there's not much more to say as it's still mostly at the drawing board.
It's the second story on this 'Meet the Books' post.

Hmmm... looking them over, you don't suppose I ever write trageties ... do you? I mean, seven out of ten isn't that many....
And while I'm about stories, for your convenience, here is a basic summary of my short stories/plots as well. (And yup, in case you're wondering, every one of them's a tragety as well....)

Short Plots ~ Ideas and Works

The Legend of Lonomia
Description:
A short story set in the world of Cyiro, though it has no relation whatsoever to any other book. It tells the story of a journey across the Lonomian desert and mountains to flee the disaster-struck city of Erhoath.
 Category:
Short Story.

Status:
Discontinued due to some critical errors and some very easily to misinterpret and badly done symbolism. It's also a bit too repetitive. I might reuse the situation with a new plot if I come across a better idea, hence leaving it up here.

A Flight to Death
Description:
The story of the tragic murder of Bebia, symbolic of a common tragedy that happens so prominently in our culture today. Again, setting is vague.
It can be found here.
Category:
Short Story.

Status:
Complete with Second Draft.

The Light of True Love
Description:
This stands as the first short story I wrote, and it tells tale of a characters struggles, and his giving up to darkness to fall into the sin of murder. (Again... *sigh*) The setting is in a story-unique world of three countries, one of which is the mediator, the other two of which are polar opposites which are always at war. The plot takes place in the first country mentioned.

The Last of the Yogurts
Description:
This story I can thank to my writing group for, because I would never on my own have thought to write a story on refrigerated items... but I knew I had to write some kind of paper on Yogurts, and an essay sounded too original, not to mention more boring in this context, so I wrote a revolution story on how groceries cast down their leaders, the Yogurts... and attempted to establish a rule in their stead. It was entertaining, to say the least, and well worth any pains it may have involved.
It can be found here.

The Tragedy of a Sandwich
Description:
Food in stories? Tragedy? Surely Mr. Doorman this looks a bit too familiar....
Though I might confess that is a story that sprouted from the desire to write another satire... it has its differences enough to be distinct from the previous, to be sure!
There is crime... a mystery to be solved.
There is an explosion....
There is a detective....
There is a big red button....
(And most importantly)
There is a sandwich.
Who will win?
Well, most likely not the explosion, it's already gone, but as to the other three, well... you can pretty-much guess who's going to lose, since the story is called 'The Tragedy of a Sandwich', and I'm not sure how much a big red button can do... besides be itself... but the question still remains!

A Death for Infinity
Description:
I can't stay away from Spanish stuff when I get into drama, can I? Well at any rate, here is my only script to see completion as of yet. It tells, in play form the story of a villainous crook trying to bribe his master of all debts, and falling finally, at the end of the play, to the last resorts. It's supposed to be symbolic, as so many of my other stories are, of our Lord's suffering and death for us.
It's set in a bedraggled hut in Spain, and was the only story up here which was purposed as homework, as I wrote it as an assignment for a drama-class.

The Death of Winter
Description:
And the third short plot with "death" in its name... ugh! It also happens to be symbolic of the last title too... for this story is of a man who weathers through the thick and thin of a mountain winter storm, and comes at last to save his charge he bares: the child. This is my only story-by-poem at present, at least worth-while one, though I hope to write more some time.
It can be found here.

The Rock of Ardinhharow
Description:
An end-scene legend of 'The Man of Rock' of Ardinhharow, the last soldier of his nation who is determined to stand till the death to defend his standard. This is a hook I got one night which may or may not sprout a book in the future, this being the end scene, but we'll see....
