~ About The Doorman and his blog ~

J+M+J
Greetings to you, reader, whoever you be!

I thank you for coming, and welcome you to this, my lowly blog. Stay as long or short as you like, though, I would advise not to make it too long, for there are far far better things to do with your time then read this, trust me!

Sooo... what is this blog all about? And who is this random chap called "the Doorman" and what is he all about?

Why thank you for asking, t'was just what I was getting too....

~ The Blog ~

The purpose of this blog is pretty straight forward: to post meaningful, contemplative, and wholehearted works; to provide an outlet for all the my contemplative thought-trains, essays, and stories; and to hopefully, and in some way, help my country turn back to the beauty it has so wrongly left behind....
The purpose (another way of saying it): to fight against the impurities of today's America, and to turn it around to our Lord once more. But even more to purpose, is that in doing so, it shall hopefully bring me closer to my Lord, and you as well, dear reader, by all grace and Lordly power.
To bring any person closer to the Lord is worth a million blogs.... That mine should ever do so, it would not be in my power, nor my knowledge, but it is the least I can do to take the gifts He has given me and put them out their for His will to use!
Let the Lord do with it as He wills... I'm merely the pen (the doorman), and by all grace and hope the pen should let the writer write!
Though I do write seriously quite often, don't expect a full 100% of the posts to be serious, I make it a rule of thumb to stick "fun" posts in their every three or so serious ones.... So if you see a tag or meaningless post here and their, don't be a bit surprised.
As to the title?
Well... I do believe I wrote a post on that, so if you're curious as to why I chose the title I did, and why I call myself "The Doorman," (Even though something like "The Doorman in training" is a bit more accurate) This post might be of interest to you.
As to when I started it?
I started this blog shortly after the Easter in 2019 (Yeah, I know, I'm an armature blogger as some of you have been writing since the stone ages). As far as my stories go though, I've been writing for quite a while, ever since I was eight or so.
As far as blogging goes however, I really must make a note here: it was Miss Belle's blog that first introduced me to the world of blogging, as I'd heard the term before, but never really knew what it was.
So thanks to her for giving me the idea and the interest to try it, cheerio Belle!
And I owe another big thanks to the rest of you who gave me such a warm welcome, as it would have probably lead to nothing much without it, thanks!
(And as I've said in another post, I owe a thanks to Savannah too... as it was her theological question that helped me know that my Lord approved me to write here.... And so write my first two posts!)

As to me myself as a person?
Well, my introductory post might help a bit, but if you'd prefer not to go clicking on random links I'll recap and, in addition, say a bit more....
I'm a gentleman of teenager (or at least I try to be), who, as far as faith goes, is a Catholic and in love with the Traditional Latin Mass, the Most Holy Eucharist, and the Blessed Virgin Mary. I also tend to gravitate towards the Children of Fatima, Saint Jude, Saint Joseph, and Saint Anthony.
And if you haven't read or heard of Archbishop Fulton Sheen, well... you might want to, because I love and talk of him as well!

As far as my personality goes, I'm somewhere between an introverted extrovert or an extroverted introvert... in all truth, and at this time, I really don't know which as I seem to have qualities of both sides. I enjoy playing music (piano mostly, though a bit of Banjo and  a few other instruments), listening to music, singing music (both chorals and singles), composing music, talking about music, ballroom dancing to music (particularly Swing, with all it's variations such as Charleston and Lindy) writing (all kinds of things), reading (also all kinds of things, though I don't actually get to reading anywhere near as much as I should), swimming, biking, tennis, programming, deep thinking, and... well... I tend to end up trying just about everything (hehe, if you haven't noticed), and if it's anything that has a creative twist, I'm sure to take at least a little bit of interest! As to sports go though? I do the ones I mentioned, with a tiny bit of boating, and that's really just about it. I'm not at all a sports or outdoors person (though I do like camping when I get the chance, which is like once every four years or so), and pretty much don't know or care a dot or a tittle about sports and sports-teams....
I dance: so if I must pick a team... Go team Castles!!!
(Oh oh... and don't forget SeƱor Astaire either...!)
I also tend to be very poetic, and often get lost in long contemplative and sometimes impractical thought trains....
Trains??! Did someone say trains???
And yes, there is that side too....
For some unknown reason I am 101% obsessed with trains, and always have been, so if they sneak into my posts every now and then, don't be at all surprised.
I also have an obsession with oceanic and underwater stuff... meaning ships, submarines, fish, my love for swimming, water, and ect....

My favorite books include, but are not limited to: The Scarlet Pimpernel; The Sword and the Serpent (the book series); Life is Worth Living; The Lord of the Rings (the book series); The Phantom Tollbooth; Enemy Brothers (I think? From what I remember of it at least); Midshipman Quinn (the book series); The Chronicles of Narnia (the book series); I am David; Sherlock Holmes; Anne of Green Gables (the books series, or what I've read of it), and lastly... The Pain of a Memory (kudos again Belle!)
As to authors? They follow the same general trend of the books I like: So in other words, all the authors of all the books I mentioned, with the addition of all you lovely bloggers who write such wonderful inspiration articles! (In other words, thanks! Keep going!!)

As for movies?
Well, as anyone who knows me well will know, I am about the pickiest movie person you'll ever find. And in comparison to most people, I haven't really watched that many movies, but I still think I have a few favorites: The Passion of Christ (by far the best); The Lord of the Rings; Dunkirk; Goodbye Mr. Chips; The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle; The Spitfire Grill (Yes yes, it had a lot of problems, but the symbolism really touched me in that one for some reason); I am David; I Remember Mama; The Perfect Game (It had some poor representations, but the story is well done and well worth it!), Courageous, Fireproof, and... probably half a bazillion others I can't think of at the moment....

And I have now said too much... which brings me up to another point again: don't ever expect a short response on my end.... I tend to make a mountain of a mole-hill and comment in book-length replies, so expect a landslide if you ever leave a comment! (But please do, I love falling rocks.... *grins mischievously* ... Even though I'm normally the one who gets buried by them!)

And that just about sums it up! I hope you enjoy my blog, whosoever you are, and until next time...
"Goodbye now, and God be with you!"

  1. Ach... I didn't see these posts. And, wow, I'm so flattered that TPoaM is on your list - I really am so glad. (But you're going to make me blush, which isn't easy to do...) I wish you all the luck in the world with your blog and all its endeavors.

Well in that case I apologize: I'm sorry... but honestly, I'm not out there to flatter you, I'm quite serious. Memories and prayers were just about everything I had in the world at the time, being fresh out of trauma, so the book was needed, a lot, so thanks.
And thank you very much, I wish you the same to yours! May the dear Lord bless it, and may it serve its purpose of spreading His beauty for His greater glory to the fullest possible extent, amen!
